The Hollywood’s Greatest Hit documentary will premiere on HBO next week.
Produced by Emmy award-winning producer Scott Rudin, the docuseries will chronicle the lives of some of Hollywood’s greatest stars in the ’70s and ’80s, and look at how they survived the storm that struck.
The documentary, which will premiere at Sundance Film Festival on May 17, will examine the lives and career of the likes of Richard Burton, Meryl Streep, Eddie Murphy, David Hasselhoff, Gene Hackman, Marlon Brando, Charlton Heston, John Candy, and others, as well as the stories of the film’s many cast members and crew.
The cast will also speak to the audience about the movie, and share personal anecdotes about the crew and their roles on the film.
The crew will also tell stories about the film, as will Rudin himself, who will narrate the documentary.
“We wanted to do something that was kind of new and really personal, but also not a documentary about the story of Titanic, but a documentary that really digs into what the crew went through on the ship,” Rudin said.
The film, which is based on the memoirs of a former crew member, Will Smith, is set to air in early 2018.
“The crew had to leave their home, their family, their friends, and the entire world behind,” said Rudin.
“There was no way to rebuild their lives in this time.
So, that’s where the documentary is about.”
The crew, along with several celebrities, will also be interviewed by the documentary’s creators, including actors Matthew Broderick and Amy Poehler, and producer James Vanderbilt.
“I’m so proud of the crew of the movie,” Broderic said in a statement.
“It’s really touching to hear from so many people about the incredible times that they went through.”
The documentary also includes interviews with former crew members including director William Friedkin, actor Anthony Mackie, and actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
