Why are black celebrities still ‘nude’ on Instagram?
Posted On July 27, 2021
Celebrities are still using the app, and some of them are getting away with it.
But is that the way to go?
The new iPhone 7 has a feature that lets users add their own photos to their feed, which lets them showcase their best shots in a variety of different ways.
But the feature has been criticized by users, who claim it makes the app less diverse.
For instance, one Twitter user posted an image of herself in her bikini and a caption saying, “I don’t like to see people in their underwear.”
Other users took issue with the way the app displayed her bikini body, saying it was too light and made her look like a “bikini model” rather than a “real black woman.”
Twitter user @taylan_chapman said, “The way it is today, it is a total joke.
You are supposed to show your body, but you are supposed only to show how you are feeling.”
Others, like @Samantha_Boucher, said it made her feel like “a piece of shit.”
The backlash on Instagram seems to have been overwhelming, with many users saying the feature made them look like “whores.”
Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom told the Wall Street Journal that he wants to be a “community leader” and encourage the diversity in the app and that he has been looking into ways to make the feature more inclusive.
